Cambridge IGCSE Physics 3rd Edition

New editions for examination from 2023. We are working towards endorsement by Cambridge Assessment International Education, so you can be confident this series supports the syllabus. These flexible resources have a skills development focus to help prepare the scientists of the future. Choose which components you need from our comprehensive series, comprising a coursebook, teacher's resource, workbook, practical workbook, and English language skills workbook and maths skills workbook (coming in 2022).Through extensive research, including lesson observations, teacher interviews and work with our online research community (the Cambridge Panel) these resources have been designed to meet specific challenges through targeted support and the creation of dedicated components that focus on specific skills areas. The series supports students learning science in English as a second language; learners who need more support with mathematical content in science; the development of essential practical skills; and the building of confidence with command terms and exam-style questions.

Research shows that English language skills are the single biggest challenge to students accessing international science. Language should never be a barrier to a student’s learning journey. Science can be a particular challenge because of specific technical vocabulary and sentence structures. This English language skills workbook with digital access helps learners to develop their language skills in the context of the Cambridge IGCSE™ Physics syllabus. The workbook contains exercises for each chapter that combine the science content with relevant language skills. Exercises develop learners’ language enabling learners to practise using key vocabulary in different ways, such as through the provision of sentence stems for students to use in their own writing; through speaking and listening with peers, or group work. Activities range from practising using comparative adjectives in the context of measuring density, to writing a set of instructions using the imperative for an experiment investigating frequency and pitch.
